A Personal Approach to Learning
Spyre:
Middle English form of spire.
Noun: The top, or uppermost point, of anything; the summit.
Verb: To grow upwards.
Climbing, climbing, higher and higher,
The branches blow and I see a spire,
The gleam of a turret, the glint of a dome,
All sparkling and bright, like white sea foam.
On and on, from bough to bough,
The leaves are thick, but I push my way through;
Before, I have always had to stop,
But to-day I am sure I shall reach the top.

“My son began working with Richard after I asked a senior executive at the College Board, “which is the most important subject to build a solid foundation in for young students?” He said, “Math, because it is very difficult to build that foundation as the concepts become more advanced.” He recommended Richard as the best person he knew to help achieve that goal. Thus began a years long relationship that has done so much more than build a foundation for my son. He has gained confidence that comes from hard work and mastery because Richard has shown him that he can learn and appreciate math where he thought that he could not do so. Now my son is headed to high school fully confident that he can achieve high marks and understanding at the next stage of his schooling. He embraces learning math and other subjects because of his experience working with Richard. He will continue to work with Richard, who takes the time to understand his students and galvanize them to tackle their weaknesses and transform them into strengths.
